The Print A Fish Project is a social sculpture with an ongoing archive of printmaking created fish.

How does it work?

Create a print with a fish as the subject.

Any printmaking technique is welcome, including relief, monotype, intaglio, collagraph, screenprint, cyanotype, or experimental processes. Not a printmaker yet?

Start with this beginner linocut tutorial, or explore the many printmaking tutorials available online, especially on Youtube.

A few guidelines:

1. Sign your print. Here is a helpful guide to signing and editioning prints.

2. Keep it 11 × 14 inches or smaller.

3. There is no deadline. Print a Fish is an ongoing social sculpture, and new projects will continue to grow from the archive.

4. Your fish remains connected to you. We will archive contributions with attribution and may share them on this website and social media. Selected fish may also be invited into future exhibitions, installations, publications, or collaborative artworks.

Please include your full name as you would like it to appear for attribution. You can write it legibly on the back of the print or include it on a separate piece of paper.

Get a fish in return

Print a Fish is an exchange.

If you include a return mailing address, you'll receive a fish print in return. There may sometimes be a wait, but a fish will make its way back to you!

Your contribution will also become part of the growing Print a Fish archive and the broader social sculpture. Fish may appear on the project website and social media, and selected works may be considered for future Print a Fish projects.
